Tommy Joe Manuel
LONGVIEW, TEXAS - Monday, October 7, 2013 at 7:00pm Heaven gained a new warrior in Tommy Joe Manuel of East Mountain, Texas. He was and will continue to be a fighter for our Lord Jesus Christ for eternity. As a great offensive tackle, he will be sure to block very well for Jesus.
Tommy was born on March 18th, 1954 to Thelma and Harry Joe Manuel of Opelousas, Louisiana. He graduated high school from the Academy of Immaculate Conception in 1972. He proudly attended Louisiana State University
and graduated from St. Joseph's Hospital in Denver as a Nuclear Medicine Technician. Tommy was an inside sales representative at EFC Valve & Controls in Longview.
Tommy, known to many as Bump, Bubba, and Bubbie, became an Eagle Scout as a young man. Later in life, he was honored to become a prestigious 4th degree Knight of Columbus.
Tommy is survived by his soul mate of 40 years, Martha Willis Manuel, the daughter of Pat and Shirley Willis of Opelousas. He is survived by his mother, Thelma "Chick" Manuel, brother, Teddy Manuel, brother-in-law, Mayor Jay Dean, and sister-in-law, Pokie Dean. Tommy was a loving uncle to his three adoring nieces, Katie Cooper, Natalie and Lauren Dean.
There will be a visitation from 10:00am - 12:00pm, Thursday, October 10, 2013 at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Longview followed by a Rosary and a Mass of Celebration. Burial will be under the guidance of Radar Funeral Home - Internment will follow at Rosewood Cemetery in Longview, Texas.
Pall Bearers will be Mark Atkins, Scott Chism, Lee Davis, Ray Davis, Ron Gullet, Carl Stewart, Mike Warlick, and Mike White.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations can be made to any charity involved with spinal cord injury and research.
