CHURCH POINT - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 26, 2013 at a 2:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church for Warren Stanford, age 78, who passed away Sunday, February 24, 2013 at Opelousas General Health System in Opelousas.
Interment will be in Bellevue Memorial Park in Opelousas. The Rev. Paul Bienvenue, pastor of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic church, will officiate at the services.
Mr. Stanford worked for the B&B Gang for the Southern Pacific Railroad where he retired with thirty four years of service. He was a parishioner of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church. Mr. Stanford was a veteran of the military having served in the U.S. Air force
Survivors include his wife of over fifty years the former Bessie Tate of Opelousas; one son, Mark Stanford and his wife, Denise, of Greenwell Springs; one step-daughter, Debbie Stelly of Opelousas; two brothers, Lee Stanford and his wife, Ethel, of Lake Charles and Andrew Stanford of Wichita Falls, TX; three sisters, Anna Carrier of Imperial Beach, CA, Nelma Pellerin and her husband, U.L., of Lake Charles, and Wilda Weisse and her husband, Bill, of St. Stevens, SC; and four grandchildren, Courtney Stanford, Madison Stanford, Jeanie Stelly, and Joey Stelly.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Eddie Stanford, Sr. and the former Odette Bihm; two brothers, Garland Stanford and Eddie Stanford, Jr.; and one sister, Edna Carrier.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Tuesday.
