OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 28. 2012 at 1:00 p.m. in Melancon Funeral Home in Opelousas for Nova J. Bertrand, age 71, who passed away, Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 3:53 p.m. at her residence in Lafayette.
Interment will be in Cedar Hill Cemetery in Washington. The Rev. Danny Ortego, will officiate at the services.
Musical selections will be Amazing Grace, On Eagles Wings and When I Get Where I'm Going.
Ms. Bertrand was a native of Washington, a previous resident of Opelousas, and has lived in Lafayette, for the past nine years.
Survivors include a son, Joseph G. Anding, Jr. and his wife, Debra, of Eunice; three daughters, Kathleen Perrone and her husband, Joseph, of Clinton, Susan Anding of Lafayette, and Marice Robin, and her husband John, of Opelousas; one sister, Geraldine Ortego and her husband, Allen, of Eunice; Also survived by eight grandchildren, Claire Leger and her husband, George, Daniel Anding, and Benjamin Anding, all of Eunice, Christopher Perrone and David Perrone, both of Clinton, John Perrone and his wife, Cameron of Broken Arrow, OK, Zachary Robin and Ashlynn Robin, both of Opelousas.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Magnus Bertrand and the former Elise Hebert; three sisters, Alice Lou Bertrand, Mary Wilda Thomas and Barbara Fisher Randolph.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 10:00 a.m. until time of services at the funeral home.
The family thanks The Cancer Center of Acadiana, the Oncology Staff at Lafayette General Regional Medical Ceneter and St. Joseph's Hospice, for their outstanding care and services. They would also like to thank Nova's numerous friends and family that have provided prayers and support during this difficult time.
