ARNAUDVILLE - Funeral services will be held Monday, April 7, 2014 at a 1:00 p.m. Mass of Christian Burial in St. Charles Borromeo Roman Catholic Church for Clara Gail Marks, age 62, the former Clara Stelly, who passed away Thursday, April 3, 2014 at 8:00 a.m. at her daughter's home in Arnaudville.
Interment will be in St. Charles Borromeo Cemetery in Grand Coteau. The Rev. James Lambert, S.J., pastor of St. Charles Borromeo Catholic Church, will officiate at the services. Readers will be Lenzi Marks and Kaitlyn Maddie. Giftbearers will be Jacob Maddie, Tyler Marks and Tori Marks.
Musical selections will be provided by Valerie Andrus. The songs will be Amazing Grace, All That I Am, Hail Mary Gentle Woman, J'Irai La Voir Un Jour, and Go Rest High on that Mountain.
Mrs. Marks was a native and lifelong resident of Arnaudville. She was a homemaker and a waitress at Mulates Restaurant in Breaux Bridge for over twenty years. Mrs. Marks enjoyed shrimping, crabbing, cooking, camping and being with her family and friends.
Survivors include two sons, Douglas Marks, Jr. of Arnaudville and Dwayne Marks and his wife, Mikell, of Opelousas; two daughters, Christie Maddie and her husband, Tony, and Ashley Hargroder and her husband, Derek, all of Arnaudville; thirteen grandchildren, Destin Marks, T.J. Maddie, Lenzi Marks, Kaitlyn Maddie, Tori Marks, Tyler Marks, Jacob Maddie, Madison Marks, Kayden Hargroder, Journi Marks, Evan Hargroder, Justice Marks and Emmalyn Hargroder; one great grandchild, Kellan Marks; two brothers, Lawrence Stelly and Patrick Stelly, both of Arnaudville; and four sisters, Betty Stelly and her husband, Johnny, of Arnaudville, Versie S. Guidroz and her husband, Donald, of Port Barre, Eunice S. Bergeron and her husband, Roy, of Arnaudville and Patricia Ann Stelly of Opelousas.
She was preceded in death by her husband of thirty-six years, Douglas Ray Marks, Sr.; her father, Voorhies Stelly and her mother, Clara Lalonde Trahan; and two brothers, Donald Stelly and Lee Stelly; an infant brother; and an infant sister.
A rosary will be prayed at 7:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home.
The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 10:00 a.m. until 9:00 p.m. Sunday and will continue from 8:00 a.m. until service time on Monday.
Pallbearers will be Dwayne Marks, Douglas Marks, Jr., Tony Maddie, Derek Hargroder, Destin Marks and T.J. Maddie. Honorary pallbearers will be Patrick Stelly and Lawrence Stelly.
