Wanda H. Gautreaux

SCOTT - Funeral services will be held Tuesday, June 3, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. Liturgy of the Word in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Chapel in Carencro for Wanda H. Gautreaux, age 86, the former Wanda Hargroder, who passed away Sunday, June 1, 2014 at 5:56 a.m. at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home in Lafayette.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens in Carencro. Deacon Sammy Diesi will officiate at the services.

The songs will be Amazing Grace, How Great Thou Art, On Eagle's Wings and The Wind Beneath My Wings.

Ms. Gautreaux was a native of Opelousas and a resident of Scott. She was a graduate of A.I.C. having been a former All-State basketball player. Ms. Gautreaux was a hairdresser and worked at Abadalla's Department Store in Opelousas for several years. She loved the casino and enjoyed dancing. She will be missed by her family and friends. Ms. Gautreaux was a parishioner of Sts. Peters and Paul Catholic Church in Scott.

Survivors include one son, Johnny Doucet of Carencro; two daughters, Pat Doucet Leger and her husband, Ronnie, of Opelousas and Harriet Doucet Lafitte of Scott; six grandchildren; six great grandchildren; two brothers, Leo Hargroder and his wife, Margarette, of Lafayette and Larry Hargroder and his wife, Norma, of Opelousas; and one sister, Lillian "Tutsy" Credeur and her husband, Ballard, of Opelousas.

She was preceded in death by her husband for over 20 years, Lloyd Gautreaux; her parents, Joseph Hargroder and the former Lillian Opry; two grandchildren; one sister, Shirley Baker; and one brother-in-law, Joe Baker.

A rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 9:00 a.m. Tuesday and will continue until service time on Tuesday.

The family would like to thank the staff at Magnolia Estates Nursing Home and Heart of Hospice for their compassion and care for their mother.
