PORT BARRE - Funeral services will be held at 11: 00 AM Saturday, June 7, 2014 at St. Mary's Catholic Church in Port Barre, LA from Hope Sade Andrus, 21, who entered eternal rest on Tuesday, May 27, 2014 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas, LA.
Interment will be in Sacred Heart Catholic Church Cemetery. Monsignor Jefferson Deblanc will conduct the Mass of Christian Burial.
Hope is survived by two daughters, Jhournai and Caidence Simmons of Port Barre; her parents Bobby Lee and Audrey Pickney of Port Barre, LA; her fiancé, Jake Gaudet of Port Barre; four sisters, Christia Bryant Guillory (Leander, Jr.), Katina Bryant and Rapunzel Andrus (Marlin Williams) all of Port Barre and Kimala Cole of Opelousas; a nephew who was like a brother, Markail Sam of Port Barre; her best friend who was also like a sister, Lakerria Simon of Palmetto, LA; paternal grandfather, Charles Pickney of Port Barre; five uncles, John Andrus, Jr. (also her godfather) and Steve Andrus (Helen), Donald Ray Pickney all of Port Barre, Jackie Pickney (Caroline) of Opelousas and Tracy Pickney (Marie) of Leonville; one aunt, Betty Zachery (Jimmie) of Port Barre; two great aunts, Viola Shelvin (Peter) of Port Barre and Virginia Levier of Carencro, LA; one great great aunt, Monica Johnson of Denver, CO; her godmother, Sandra Hanchett of Port Barre and a host of nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.
Hope was preceded in death by her maternal grandparents John and Rita Andrus, paternal grandmother, Margie Nell Pickney , maternal great grandmother, Viola Levier, paternal great grandmother Rossella Andrus, a nephew, Jaylien Bryant, and a cousin Christopher (Bam) Andrus.
The family of Hope would like to extend a special thanks to Viola Shelvin, Floyd and Christine Andrus, and Patricia Hicks for their support during this difficult time.
Visiting hours will be observed from 8:00 AM until 10:30 AM Saturday, June 7, 2014 at Williams Funeral Home in Opelousas, LA. A rosary will be recited at 9:30 AM.
