Agnes Mallet Arceneaux Obituary
Agnes Mallet Arceneaux

LAFAYETTE - Funeral services will be held Friday, July 11, 2014 at 10:00 a.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church for Agnes Mallet Arceneaux, age 96. Ms. Arceneaux passed away peacefully on Thursday, July 3, 2014. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

She was born in Scott, LA on December 11, 1917 and was a resident of Lafayette for more than 70 years. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and friend, who will be greatly missed.

Her joys in life were cooking for and spending time with her family, baking, crocheting, and gifted storytelling, especially of the good old days and her passion and talent for dancing and getting her hair done - a true Southern belle and original diva.

She was a member of St. Anthony Catholic Church and of St. Anthony's Ladies Auxiliary Court 166 for several decades. After many years of service, Ms. Arceneaux retired as a food service worker with the Lafayette Parish School Board.

Survivors include her son, Clayton Arceneaux and his wife, Gladys; daughter, Patricia Arceneaux Cravins and her husband, Donald; grandchildren, Angela (Jermaine) Arceneaux Trahan, Donald (Yvette) Cravins, Jr., Clayton Arceneaux, Jr., Denni Cravins, and Dustin (Jessica) Cravins; ten great grandchildren, a sister-in-law, Viola Mallet and a host of loving nieces and cousins.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Antoine Arceneaux; her parents, Edwin Mallet and Philomene Anderson Mallet; her brother, Gumbleton Mallet and her sister, Mervy Mallet Gradney.

The family would like to extend special thanks to her caregivers at Evangeline Oaks Guest House. The incredible support and compassion given to our loved one and to us will never be forgotten.

Visitation will be held Thursday, July 10, 2014 at Syrie Funeral Home from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. A rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Visitation will continue on Friday, July 11, 2014 at St. Anthony Catholic Church from 8:00 a.m. until time of service.
