Joseph Sherman Malbrue

CARENCRO - Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 12, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. in Carencro First Apostolic Church for Joseph Sherman Malbrue, age 64, who passed away Thursday, July 3, 2014 at Opelousas General Hospital in Opelousas.

Interment will be in Evangeline Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Carencro. The Rev. J. Heard, pastor of Carencro First Apostolic Church, will officiate at the services.

Mr. Malbrue was a native and lifelong resident of Sunset. He was employed with Slemco for thirty-two plus years and he served his country during the Vietnam War in the U.S. Army. Mr. Malbrue was a parishioner of Carencro First Apostolic Church. He was a member for thirty-three years and a faithful usher for over twenty years. Mr. Malbrue liked to do mechanic work on small engines and loved helping people in any way he could. With his "green thumb" he liked to work in his garden and always kept his yard looking good. Mr. Malbrue was a great provider for his family. He was a very loving, patient, kind and faithful man, to God and his family.

Survivors include his wife of forty loving years, the former Patricia Brooks of Sunset; three sons, Joseph Damon Malbrue and his wife, Nicole, of Youngsville, Jairus Malbrue and his wife, Jamie, of Carencro and Aquila Malbrue of Sunset; three daughters, Latticia Wilson and her husband, Anthony, of Lafayette, Alison Harris and her husband, Christian, and Desiree Edmond and her husband, Jeremy, all of Carencro; sixteen grandchildren; one great grandchild; one brother, Glenn David Malbrue and his wife, Sarah, of Sunset; and one sister, Barbara Malbrue of Sunset; his step mother, Victoria Malbrue of Sunset.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Sherman Malbrue, Jr. and the former, Alice Guillory; and one brother, James Anthony Malbrue.

The family requests that visiting hours be observed from 5:00 p.m. Friday at Carencro First Apostolic Church until 10:00 p.m. Re-open Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until service time on Saturday at the church.
