George Fontenot Sr.

Funeral services for Mr. George Roland Fontenot, Sr. age 78, will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Thursday, October 21 , 2010, Fr. Paul Bienvenu of Our Lady of Mercy Catholic Church will be the Celebrant of the Mass of Christian Burial. Interment will follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Mausoleum.
George was a resident of Opelousas. He passed away on October 19, 2010, at his residence in Opelousas. George was employed with Texaco Oil Co. for 34 years as a Consultant Mgr. in Texas and Louisiana. He dearly loved his job and at the age of 62 he retired with the company. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, he also loved cooking for his family and friends. George loved being with his grand kids and his family at the camp. He dearly enjoyed taking his dog Louie in the boat to camp and riding her on the four wheeler. Louie is like another child of the family. He served his country during the Koreau Conflict in the U.S. Army and in the U.S. Air Force before the Conflict started.
Music selections will be played by Valerie Andrus; Amazing Grace, On Eagles Wings, You'll never walk alone, The old Rugged Cross, How Great thou Art., and He Touched Me.
Survivors include his wife; Verna Mae Artigue Fontenot, of Opelousas, his sons; Stanley Fontenot and his wife, Tina of Port Barre, George Fontenot, Jr., and his wife, Belinda of Port Barre, and Joey Fontenot and his wife, Donna of Port Barre, his daughters; Gwen Dupre and her husband, Roger of Plaisance, LA , and Linda Richard and her husband Dave of Broussard, his brothers; Jules Fontenot of New Roads, and Perry Fontenot and his wife Dean of Ville Plate, and his sisters; Mona Prejean and her husband Jim , of Ville Platte, and Maxine Hukill of Ville Platte, 7 grandchildren and 15 great grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; Clarence and Iris McDaniel Fontenot.
Pallbearers will be Todd Dupre, Joey Lance Fontenot, Jared Paul Fontenot, George "Yockie" Fontenot, Nick Fontenot and Kelly Hukill.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Sibille Funeral Home of Opelousas on Wednesday, October 20, 2010, from 3:00 p.m. with an all night wake until time of service on Thursday.
A Rosary service will be held at 6:00 p.m. on Wednesday evening in the funeral home.
