OPELOUSAS - A Funeral Service for Keith "Skibo" Veltin will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 15, 2012, in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home with burial to follow in the Bellevue Memorial Park Cemetery. Reverend Monsignor Keith DeRouen will officiate the service.
Mr. Veltin, age 63, a resident of Opelousas, LA died on Wednesday, December 12, w012, at the Heart Hospital in Lafayette, LA.
Keith proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and received the following war medals, National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars, Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal, Expert (Rifle M-16), Sharpshooter (Rifle M-14), Bronze Star Medal and the Army Commendation Medal. Keith will be greatly missed by his family, friends and all who knew and loved him.
Survivors include his ex-wife, Brenda Richard Veltin, of Opelousas, LA; his father, Architect, A.E. Manny Veltin, Jr., of Opelousas, LA; his daughter, Mandi Veltin, of Opelousas, LA and his sisters, Tobi Veltin Doherty, of Sunset, LA; Julie Veltin Bernard, of Lafayette, LA.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth Lafleur Veltin; his daughter, Piper Ja'Net Veltin; his mother-in-law, Mrs. Edith Richard; his fraternal grandfather, Toby Veltin; his fraternal grandmother, Jule Veltin Smith; his maternal grandfather, Tuerling Lafleur; his maternal grandmother, Margarite David Lafleur; his step-grandfather, Kenneth Smith; his uncles, Kingsley Veltin; "Took" Lafleur and his nephews, Beau Barnett and Walter Charles Smith, II.
Visiting hours will be observed in the Lafond-Ardoin Funeral Home of Opelousas beginning on Saturday, December 15, 2012 from 11:00 a.m. until time of service.
