EUNICE - Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013, at New Zion Missionary Baptist Church, 251 Nimitz, Eunice, for Deacon Clyde Lee Lyons, 61, who died at 9:48 a.m. Tuesday, February 5, 2013, at Opelousas General Hospital. Interment will be in Mount Olive Cemetery in Eunice. Rev. All W. Ben, Pastor will officiate the services.
Deacon Lyons was a very faithful member of New Zion Baptist Church. He was employed for 33 years at Louisiana Water Company (LAWCO). He was well respected and known in the community of Eunice. He as a U.S. Air Force veteran. He was a very loving husband, father, grandfather, brother, and person that never met a stranger. He was a very faithful member of Satellite Social & Civic Organization.
He is survived by his wife, Veronica Hudson Lyons, of Eunice; his step-father, Lindzy May, Sr., of Faunsdale, Ala.; four daughters, Talonda Lyons, of Eunice, Anastesia Lyons (Jasper) of Atlanta, Ga., Syretta Burns (Chris), of Birhmingham, Ala., and Roxie Davis (Kendrick), of Opelousas; six brothers, Lindsey May, Jr., of Miami, Fla., Cornelius (Vickie) Jones, Jr., of Hiram, Ga., Alvin (Nina) Jones, of Chicago, Ill., Dwayne Jones, of Bellwood, Ill., Willie Ed Brown, of Uniontown, Ala., and Calvin (Gwen) Jones of Gallion, Ala.; nine sisters, Annie Laura Jones, of New York, NY, Cassandra Walker, of Dolton, Ill., Annette (Joe) Davis, of Powder Springs, Ga., Rose M. Briggins, of Montgomery, Ala., Patricia (Johnny) Carter of Faunsdale, Ala., Linda June May, of Faunsdale, Ala., Christina May, of Faunsdale, Ala., Geraldine (Eric) Johnson, of Faunsdale, Ala., and Stacey Brown, of Uniontown, Ala.; five grandchildren, Daveyon, Hasani, Isaiah, Chrys and Lincoln; and raised with Frank (Rose) Hughes, Stella (Nelson) Taylor, and Pauline (James) Scales.
Visiting hours will be held from 3 p.m. until 7 p.m. Wednesday, February 13, 2013.
Pallbearers will be the Satellite Brothers: Michael Dupre, Wendell Prudhomme, Gerald Hardy, Carlton Frank, Jr., Curtis Rougeau, Bennie Dupre, Mark Dupre, Donald Dupre, Willie Johnson, and Felicien Simon.
