Roy Dave Obituary
OPELOUSAS - Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, April 11, 2015 at Greater St. James Baptist Church in Opelousas for Mr. Roy D. Dave, Sr., 83, who passed away on Tuesday, April 7, 2015 at Regional Medical Center of Acadiana in Lafayette. Interment will be in the church cemetery. Rev. Christopher Ardoin will be officiating the funeral services. Mr. Dave was a member of Greater St. James Baptist Church. He was a member of the Keystone Lodge #196 and the 21st Century Social Club. He was Korean War Veteran of the United States Army. Surviving Mr. Dave are: his wife, Marie Lucille Dave of Opelousas; four sons, Roy Dave, Jr. of Houston, TX, Charles (Olif) Dave of Valdosta, GA, Albert (Bridget) Frank of Port Arthur, TX ad Corkey Joseph of Lake Charles; two step sons, Lawrence Shelvin of Opelousas and Christopher Clark of Beaumont, TX; daughter, Nerma Dave of Valdosta, GA; adopted daughter, Elizabeth Dave of Opelousas; five step daughters, Shirley Felix and Betty Miles, both of Opelousas, Mary Louella (Richard) Graves of Phoenix, AZ, Catherine Boozer of Cairo, Egypt and Theresa Graham of Houston, TX; one brother, Samuel (Nita) Dave of Houston, TX; four sisters, Daria Mae (Clarence) Dave, Elyona (Henry) Pitre and Allie Rose (Adry) Joubert, all of Opelousas and Earline Dave of Houston, TX; special friends, Dorothy Franklin and Wilda Marcel Shelvin; fifteen grandchildren; fifteen great grandchildren; and a host of nieces, nephews and relatives and friends. He is preceded in death by: his parents, Davis Dave and Nerma Thilbodeaux Dave; three stepsons, Michael Franklin, Benjamin Shelvin, Jr. and Allen Frank, Jr.; four brothers, Huey P. Dave, Elenoid Dave, Leroy Dave and Solomon Dave; and two step grandchildren, Yvette and Antonio Felix. Visitation will be held on Saturday, April 11, 2015 from 8:00 a.m. to 10:45 a.m. at Greater St. James Baptist Church. I would like to extend my condolences to Mr. Roy Dave's family. Mr. Dave, as he was affectionately called, was a very special person and also our dedicated bus driver back and forth to Southern University. I will always cherish how you to took care of each one of us that rode your bus. You will be miss and I'm so sorry for the loss.

I never thought that a day would come when Mr. Dave would not be here to wave and laugh that special laugh. From this day forward you will always be in my thoughts and prayers. Passing on Garland Ave. will never be the same anymore, but God knew that it was time to call you home with him.
