Jo Goetz Obituary

Goetz, Jo Ann Grimes Passed away Christmas morning, December 25, 2012. Jo Ann was born July 27, 1935 in Tulsa, OK to Oscar and Velva Grimes. Raised in Tulsa, Jo Ann learned to play golf at an early age and won the 1953 Oklahoma Girls Championship. In later years, she would win club championships in Longview, Dallas and Horseshoe Bay. Jo Ann met her future husband, Bob, at Oklahoma A&M and graduated from there in 1957. Whether in a Bible class, on the golf course, at a party and especially at family gatherings, Jo Ann leaves a wonderful memory for her friends and family. Her death on Christmas Day enhances our memories of her. She was a special gift to all of us. She lived well, died well and will always bring back a smile to those who knew and loved her. Jo Ann is survived by her loving husband of over 55 years, Bob, two daughters - Jennifer Goetz of Boerne and Teresa Goetz of San Antonio, and sister, Mary Nagode, of Atlanta, GA. A memorial service to celebrate her life will be held at 11 o'clock the morning of January 8, 2013 at the Church at Horseshoe Bay; reception to follow. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be made to Wounded Warriors of Texas, Glenhaven Youth Camp or the charity of your choice.

Thank you Aunt Jo Ann for all you have done. You always had a way of making us feel special and loved. I remember our house burning down three days before Christmas and you welcomed us with open arms. You can see the love that you shared with all of us in your girls they are so beautiful that there are not enough words to describe how breath taking their beauty is. We know that beauty like that comes from God and loving parents. God in trust special people with that is precious to him and he was right when he picked you in Bob to give them the foundation in which they could build there lives upon. The love you shared with Uncle Bob transcends time and your souls are intertwined forever. Thank you for showing us how to be gentle, joyful, graceful and loving. I know you are home those left here miss you for selfish reasons but because we know where you are we do not have to look. Each day we wake up and put one foot in front of the other and we know that with each step it will bring us closer to you. I have learned it is not how you start it is how you finish. Thank you for sharing your love of God, family and country. You are truly one of God's masterpieces and I have forever been changed by the beauty of your loving soul. Yours Forever
