Nancy Ritter Obituary

Ritter, Nancy Staples Nancy Staples Ritter, age 70, of Dallas, TX, went to be with the Lord on June 19, 2013 where she soars on wings like eagles, runs and not grows weary and walks but is not faint (Isaiah 40:31). Nancy will most be remembered for her warm smile, hospitality and fighting spirit. She was born March 14, 1943 in Goose Creek, TX to Florence and Jack Staples. She married A. Wayne Ritter on Sept. 4, 1965 in Austin, TX. After living in Andrews (her most favorite place on earth?), Midland, Odessa, Houston, Tulsa and Denver, Wayne and Nancy settled in Dallas in 1981. Having found a church home at Park Cities Baptist Church, Nancy was active in all aspects of church life, with particular emphasis on the choir, having served as president. In addition to church and family activities, Nancy was a constant volunteer at St. Mark's and Hockaday and active in the guilds of several arts organizations, including the Dallas Opera Guild and the Dallas Theater Center Guild, having served as president of those organizations. Following an automobile accident in 1995, Nancy was confined to a wheel chair, but continued her community involvements. Her one true love, however, was her family: husband Wayne, daughter Marisa, son Jeff and his wife Michelle, as well as her grandchildren Sarah Grace, Bethany Anne and Jack, brother-in-law Jerry Ritter, nephew Brad Ritter and family, and niece Jennifer Ritter. The family wants to offer special thanks for the wonderful caregivers Nancy has had over the years, especially Sandra Mason and Lisa Booth. Visitation will be held on Monday, June 24, 2013 from 6:00pm - 8:00pm at Sparkman/Hillcrest Funeral Home. Funeral services will be in Ellis Chapel at Park Cities Baptist Church on Tuesday, June 25, 2013 at 1:30pm. Following an internment at Sparkman/Hillcrest, a reception will be held at Arlington Hall at Lee Park from 4:00pm - 6:00pm. To the Ritter family, "I am so sorry to hear of Nancy's passing, my husband was very ill at that time and I had not checked our Memory Book with McCallum High School. My deepest sympathy to all of her family. She was a
wonderful person whom I had known throughout our younger years at McCallum High School, and I will always remember her gentle ways and her
beautiful smile.

I knew Nancy when I worked for the Dallas Opera Guild in the late '90s. She was, and will always remain, one of my favorite people during my short time in Dallas. What a gracious lady with a delicious sense of humor. I was sad to see her obituary today, but smiling, too -- knowing she's free. My best to Wayne and the family. I'll never forget her.

I am so very sorry to hear of Mrs. Ritter's passing. I was one of her French students at Andrews High School and truly enjoyed her kindness and her wonderful sense of humor. We were so very sorry to lose her as a teacher and mentor due to a move from Andrews. May God bless each of you and bring you comfort and peace. She was a wonderful person who touched many young lives in Andrews.

Nancy was an amazing woman! Her remarkable faith, strength and grace were inspirational. We were all blessed to have an opportunity to know her and spend all of those volunteer hours together.

Wayne, Jeff and Marisa...I'm deeply saddened to hear about your Wife/Moms passing. During the years I was caring for her she taught me a lot and opened my eyes to new experiences and adventures. I will always treasure those memories. After moving back to Minnesota I would often think about her and smile. Words cannot take away the pain in your heart but hopefully knowing that she is with God now and dancing in the gardens of Heaven will help you get through this difficult time. My prayers and blessings go out to all of you.
