Jobe, Sharon Sharon Cannon Jobe, 66, of Dallas, died peacefully on June 18, 2014 after a short battle with cancer. Sharon was born on March 9, 1948 in Lubbock, Texas, to the late James and Bettye Cannon. Sharon graduated from Texas Tech University in January 1969 and was one of the first women to graduate from Texas Tech Law School in 1972. She married Rex V. Jobe on November 23, 1974. Sharon's career began as a bank holding company attorney for the Federal Reserve Bank of Dallas and then the first female general counsel of The Republic of Texas Corporation and their lead institution, Republic National Bank. She became a Senior Vice President and an officer of the Holding Company at age 29 in 1977. Sharon joined Rex as CFO in 1980 and spent the next 30 years as his partner in their family companies, The Color Place, Total Color and The Image Bank - Texas/West. While she also loved reading and gardening, Sharon could always be found needlepointing. She needlepointed over two-hundred pieces on five continents over the last fifty years. Sharon is survived by her husband, Rex, and their two children: Lauren Jobe Coyle and her husband, John, of Chapel Hill, North Carolina, and Reagan Vance Jobe and his wife, Courtney, of Plano, Texas. She is also survived by three grandchildren, Leah, David, and Emma Coyle, and her beloved Westie, Sir Winston Churchill. The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Fine of the Supportive and Palliative Care Clinic at Baylor University Medical Center and the team at Vitas Hospice, especially Stephanie Reeder for the incredible loving care Sharon received in her final months. A reception celebrating Sharon's life will be held from 2-4 p.m. on June 25 at Brook Hollow Golf Club, 8301 Harry Hines Blvd. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to the SPCA of Dallas.

Our late friend Bob Rogers admired and loved Sharon, and once told me that she was the most capable woman he'd ever met, and I can't think of a higher compliment than that.
