Anne Keough

Keough, Anne Christine Anne Christine Keough passed on to her eternal reward on February 19, 2013 after years of unfaltering love for her family, friends and the Catholic Church. Anne was born to Bob and June Beck in Indianapolis, Indiana on July 24, 1944, the oldest of six children. Anne benefited from a Catholic education at St. Michael the Archangel Grade School, St. Mary's Academy and received a BA in English and Education with a minor in theology and psychology from Marian College, Indianapolis Indiana in 1966. Anne taught 5th grade in the Indianapolis Public School System and the Monroe County School District until 1971. Anne completed course work at the Indiana University Graduate School of Education with a specialization in Administration prior to moving to New Jersey where she worked for St. Cecilia's Catholic School, Iselin NJ for two years. A move to Thailand with her husband in 1973 found Anne branching into adult education as an instructor for USARSUPTHAI and St. Louis High School GED program for military employees. In Yokohama, Japan in 1974 she added Lamaze instruction for the USNRMC and the beginning of formal work in marriage and family ministry as she and her husband Dan volunteered as facilitators for the USNR Chapel Center. Anne and Dan coordinated Marriage Encounter weekends in Northeast Asia and Dallas, TX. They were also active with Engaged Couple Programs, RCIA and Children's Faith Formation. Anne completed course work at Regis University (Denver, CO) Master of Arts Adult Christian Community Development with a specialization in family ministry during the summers of 1985 through 1987. Anne's two sons and two daughters joined her in Denver for a summer session that created lifelong memories. Her final project at Regis has benefited Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville, TX through their Morality, Sex & Sexuality, and Respect Life/AIDS Mini-Series. Anne served Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Duncanville, TX for over 35 years. She served as the fulltime director of Adult & Family Ministry at Holy Spirit since 1987, serving as part time director with her husband Dan from 1984-1987 and then Dan and Anne served as Co-directors from 1987-98. Anne served on numerous committees for the diocese including but not limited to the Christian Initiation Commission, Sexuality Guidelines Committee and Youth Ministry Retreat Guidelines. She was also a member of the Diocesan Family Life Network. Anne presented family life ministry related topics to parents, youth, catechists, youth ministers, families, DRE's, teachers throughout the dioceses of Dallas, Fort Worth and Tyler. She coveted continuing education and enrichment in family ministry related topics. Anne was an active member of the National Association of Catholic Family Life Ministers on the local, regional and national level for over 20 years and served multiple terms on the NACFLM Board as the Parish Section Representative. Anne taught by example the meaning of marriage, parenting, faith, kindness, and love. She was a band mom, confidant, friend, Hoosier, mentor, room mom, second mother to many, soccer mom and volunteer for many organizations. Anne loved her family; she loved summers back home in Indiana; and she left a legacy that will not be forgotten. Anne is survived by her husband of 46 years Dan Keough; her sons and daughters Daniel Keough, Anne E. Keough, Joseph Keough, Erin Keough Phillips; her siblings, Susan Beck Watson, Pat Coffman, Stephen Beck, Barbara Beck Chapman, Thomas Beck; her son-in-law Peter Phillips and daughter-in-laws Melanie Keough and Stacy Keough; and her four grandchildren. A Funeral Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 23, 2013 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church 1111 W. Danieldale Rd. Duncanville, TX 75137. A reception will follow in the Community Center.
