Betty Anderson

Anderson, BETTY, beloved wife, mother, and friend passed away November 23, 2004 at her residence in Dallas. Betty is survived by husband, John E. Anderson, daughter: Alice Elizabeth, son: Andrew Edwin, daughter: Sarah Ellen, and 5 grandchildren: Laura Elizabeth Anderson, John Edward Anderson II, Roy Franklin Karr V, Andrea Elaine Zents, and Michael Anderson Karr. Betty was born in Wichita Falls, TX on July 25, 1927 to Willie Irene Flynt Potts and Edwin Chester Potts. She graduated from Wichita Falls High School and attended Midwestern University, then transferred to Southern Methodist University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma. She earned her degree in Zoology, then upon graduation traveled to Europe. She returned to Texas, moving to Dallas to become a 1st and 2nd grade teacher at Victor Hexter Elementary. Betty met her husband John on a blind date, and then became engaged to be married after a courtship of only seventeen days. They married on June 1, 1955 in Wichita Falls, TX and settled in Dallas. Betty taught at Sudie Williams and George B. Dealey Elementary. She received training at Scottish Rite Hospital to teach Dyslexic students in a private setting, which she did for many years. Betty was active in Kappa Kappa Gamma Alumni Association, Bible Study Fellowship, Walnut Hill United Methodist Church, First United Methodist Church of Carrollton, and Hillcrest Church. A memorial service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, November 29, 2004 at Rhoton Funeral Home. Memorials may be made to The Alzheimers Association of Greater Dallas, 7610 N. Stemmons Frwy.
