C. Robert "Bob" Wilson

Wilson, C. Robert "Bob" Charles Robert "Bob" Wilson, Major, USMC (Ret.), passed away October 11, 2013. He was born in 1930, and grew up with his parents, Leona and Walter K. Wilson, and his three brothers in the Lakewood area of Dallas. He graduated in 1947 from Woodrow Wilson High School. While there, he earned the rank of Eagle Scout, lettered in track, and was a member of ROTC. After attending SMU for two years, he graduated from The University of Texas at Austin with a BBA in Marketing with a minor in Accounting and was a member of Alpha Tau Omega fraternity. After college, Bob entered the Marine Corps as a 1st Lieutenant and served in Korea beginning in 1951, earning medals for valor. He remained active in the Marine Reserves, training at Camp Pendleton in CA each year until the early 1970's. Professionally, Bob was a top salesman for IBM throughout the 1960's and 1970's, receiving numerous commendations and the Golden Circle award. During his time with IBM, he and his growing family lived in Dallas, San Antonio, Washington, D.C., Houston, and Austin. Throughout the 1980's, he worked for ARCO in Dallas. In the 1990's he set up his own firm assisting people with their business affairs and medical claims. In his later years, Bob enjoyed traveling, swimming, seeing his grandchildren, and socializing with his friends at Marine Corps reunions or the Dallas 200 Club. Bob was incredibly interested in history, current events, and politics, poring over the newspaper each day. All those who knew him, knew that he could always be counted on to do the right thing, a trait of which his daughters were especially proud. Bob is preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Roger and Richard. He is survived by his daughter Karol Lynn Wilson of Dallas; daughter Karen Wilson Wagner and son-in-law Brock Wagner of Houston; grandchildren Holden and Martha Wagner; his brother Walter K. Wilson, II and sister-in-law Delores Wilson; sister-in-law Celia Wilson; and niece Vickie Wilson Farnsworth. He also leaves behind his companion of the heart, Wini Holmes, and numerous caring friends he met along his life path. Funeral service will be held Friday, October 18, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. in the Wildwood Chapel at Restland Funeral Home and Cemetery.
