Pendery, Clarice Yvonne Carter Pendery, Clarice Yvonne Carter, slipped away into our fond memories on March 18, 2013. She was born on September 24, 1922 in Port Arthur, Texas. Yvonne (known as Clarice to some) was raised by her mother, uncle, and aunt in Brownwood and graduated from Howard Payne University. She married Harold Vernon Pendery shortly before he went off to serve in Italy in World War II. After he returned, she gave birth to her first son, Gerald Vernon Pendery, followed shortly thereafter by her other son, Harold Mikel Pendery. Harold and Yvonne moved many times during his career and Yvonne made a home in every city, finding new friends and staying in touch with the old ones. She cherished her relationships with them and with her family. Yvonne was a consummate caregiver. She never wanted the spotlight, but she shined it on many others. She will be sorely missed and fondly remembered. Yvonne loved big band music, a cocktail or two, golf, chocolate sheet cake, the color coral, shrimp remoulade, decorating her many homes, Fredericksburg peaches, Thanksgiving Day, news of the grandkids' exploits, watching sports on t.v., Crispy Szechuan Beef at Ancient China, Jason's Deli Soft Serve, and cooking for her family. Her husband, Harold, predeceased her. She is survived by her son, Mike Pendery and his wife, Jan Pendery; her son Gerry and his wife, Julia Pendery; four grandchildren, Susannah Eicher and her husband, Cory Eicher; Jeremy Pendery and his wife, Paige Pendery; Geoffrey Pendery and his wife, Diana Pendery; Clark Pendery; and her honorary granddaughter, Natasha Joh. She joyfully held her first great grandchild, Luke Carter Pendery, in her arms on her 90th birthday. He will not know her directly, but we will keep her memory alive for him.
