Doris Virginia Reid(1928 - 2013)

Reid, Doris Virginia Known as Virginia by friends and family, she passed away peacefully on February 28, 2013 in Plano, Texas. She was born to Charles and Elizabeth Boyer on June 2, 1928 in Charleston, Illinois. She attended schools in Charleston and Eastern Illinois University. While at the university she fell in love with fellow student, Marshall Reid. They married on August 27, 1948 beginning 64 plus years of love and devotion. Virginia was a lifelong member of the Christian Church. Her life was one marked by her love for family, friends, church and country. At the same time she received back unprecedented love from family, friends and even strangers. Love was simply just a big part of her life. Virginia grew up with local politics around her. Her family was involved in many areas of local politics. She had strong political views as well as strong moral opinions. However, she was very quick to respect the opposite view of others. Virginia was always ready for travel, making many foreign trips with her husband. Her belief in Jesus Christ never wavered. She was an active member of the May Friendship Sunday School Class and past president, as well as a member and past president of the Hanover/White Literary Group. Early on she decided to be a stay-at-home wife and did not work outside the home until her youngest child was 12. She worked at a number of area banks during her lifetime. She was devoted to her family. She is preceded in her death by her brother Chuck Boyer, sister-in-law Betty Boyer and stepmother Fran Boyer. She is survived by her husband, sons Marshall Reid and Chuck Reid and daughter Mary Reid Attaway, son-in-law, Lawrence Attaway, daughters-in-law Cindy Reid and Nona Reid, grandchildren Erin Attaway, Mary Claire Attaway, Lauren Reid, Sam Reid, Sue Reid and Caroline Tapp, nieces Mary Beth Smith and Janie Wise and nephew Mel Boyer. This devoted person, loved by so many, will be deeply missed by family and friends. In lieu of flowers, the family requests any donations be made to one's favorite charity. A memorial service will be held in celebration of her life at Northway Christian Church, 7202 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Texas 75225 on Monday, March 4, 2013 at 2:00 P.M.
