Starry, George L. A graveside service with full military honors for George L. Starry, 91, of Dallas will be held at 11:00 A.M., Friday, May 24, 2013 at Dallas Ft. Worth National Cemetery. George was born on November 15, 1921 in Louisburg, Kansas to the late Edward and Nellie Menefee Starry. He proudly served during WWII
flying B-26 Bombers as a Lieutenant in the 386th bomb group in the Army Air Corps. He flew in the air offensive in Europe and Western Europe and was awarded the Distinguished Flying Cross, two Bronze Battle Stars, the Air Medal with 8 Oak Leaf Clusters, and a Distinguished Unit Citation. Following the completion of 50 missions, George was assigned to fly visiting dignitaries and his landing field was the front lawn of Windsor Castle. He completed college on the GI bill and graduated from the University of Missouri. George was an early exhibitor at the Dallas Market Center where he had a furniture showroom for many years. Simply said, George was a gentleman and will be dearly missed. George is survived by his loving wife, Beverly Gentry Starry of Dallas; her daughter, Lynne Harelik and her husband, Edmund, and son, Nicholas Harelik. He is also survived by his beloved sister-in-law, Helen Starry of Overton Park, Kansas. He was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Nellie; brother, E.K.; sister, Glena and wife, Roxanna Ward. Please send family condolences to www.ariacremation.com
