Milena Bogicevic

Bogicevic, Milena Milena passed away peacefully on Tuesday, Jan. 29, 2013 at the age of 99, in Dallas, Tx. A memorial service will be held in her honor at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home, 7405 W. Northwest Highway, Dallas, Tx on Saturday, February 16, 2013 at 2:00pm. Milena was born in 1913 in Trieste Italy, then a part of Slovenia, and raised in Ljubljana, Slovenia. This February 17th would have been her 100th birthday. She is survived by her only child - Helen Bogicevic Terry of Dallas and her husband, Jeb B. Terry, Sr., three grandchildren, Greer Terry Freed of Jackson, WY, Jeb B. Terry, Jr. of Chapel Hill, NC and Avril A. Terry of New York, NY; and two great grandchildren, Emerson Grace Terry and Harper Milena Terry. Milena was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Momcilo Bogicevic in 1992. Milena is missed by her nieces, Michelle Braden Puddle and family of West Horsley, Surrey, UK and Adriana Brezigar Batinic and family of Buenos Aires, Argentina. She spent most of her youth and young adult years in Ljubljana. She became fluent in seven languages, which later was quite helpful in obtaining jobs in the displacement after WW2. She met Helen's father, Momcilo Bogicevic, fondly known as "Bogi", in northern Italy when she was escaping Yugoslavia at the end of WW2. Momcilo was a Yugoslav cavalry officer. They were married in Paris and in 1951 they immigrated to Dallas. Milena found work in Dallas as a travel agent as she was able to use her language skills and firsthand knowledge of the cultures and landmark destinations in Europe. Milena was an avid bridge player, loved dancing and traveling to visit her extended family in Europe and Argentina. Milena will be remembered for her serene and positive attitude through all of life's challenges. She liked to attribute her good health to a regular diet including garlic, vinegar, dark chocolate, a daily glass of red wine or beer and LOTS of coffee.
