Nedra Arendts Niles Snouffer(1914 - 2012)

Snouffer, Nedra Arendts Niles Born January 9, 1914 in Cedar Rapids, Iowa, died in Santa Monica, California on November 1, 2012. Mrs. Snouffer lived in Dallas, Texas for 64 years and was the first director of The St. Michael School from 1950 to 1968. During that time she was active in Episcopal School organizations, both in the state and nationally. She was a trustee of St. Simon Child Care and St. Augustine Day School. She served on the Commission on the Ministry of the Episcopal Diocese of Dallas, on the Teachers Education Advisory Committee of the University of Dallas, as a Regional Governor for Mills College, and later as a trustee of The St. Michael School. From 1968 to 1979 she was Head of the Hockaday Lower-Middle School. She was preceded in death by her first husband of nine years, Paul D. Niles, in 1947. In 1984 she married William N. Snouffer, who died in 1989. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, John and Marian Niles; her grandsons and spouses, Paul and Andria Niles and Matthew Niles and Kathleen Tundermann; and three great-grandchildren, Thomas, Sophia and Zoe Niles. She is also survived by step-children William C. Snouffer, Richard K. Snouffer, Noel S. Vertrees and Anne S. Cochran, and their spouses and children. A memorial service will be held at ST. MICHAEL AND ALL ANGELS EPISCOPAL CHURCH in Dallas, on Saturday, November 24, 2012 at 11:00 a.m. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Coe College Advancement Office; 1220 1st Ave. NE; Cedar Rapids, IA 52402.
