Robert McLuckie

McLuckie, Robert Edward Robert Edward McLuckie "Bob" died on July 27, 2013 at The Belmont Twin Creeks in Allen, Tx where he resided. Bob was born in Donora, Pennsylvania on Sept 23, 1920 to Edith Sickels and Robert Young McLuckie. He graduated from Monongahela High School in 1937 and was employeed as a Yard Clerk for the Pennsylvannia Rail Road. Bob joined the Pennsylvannia National Guard on Jan 23, 1939 in Monongahela, Pa. where he came a bayonet instructor. His unit was activated on Jan 17, 1941 for WWII and sailed on the Queen Mary to England. He was a Airplane Armorer 911 and was a Rifle and Carbine Sharpshooter. He also was involved in the Battles or campaigns of Normandy, Northern France, Rhineland, Central Europe, Ardennes and Air Offensive Europe and was attached to the 493rd Bomber Fighter Squadron. He received the EAME Theater ribbon w/6 bronze Stars , American Defense Service Medal, Good Conduct Hq 48th Ftr Gp/44 Distinguished Unit. He was discharged on Mar 21, 1944 with the rank of TSgt Bob returned to Donora, Pa where he met and married Eleanor Hughes who presided him in death in 1997. Bob attended and graduated from Graceland Jr. College,Lamoni, Iowa where he played football and was all American player. Bob and Eleanor "Ellie" had three Children "Rob" Robert McLuckie of McKinney, Tx, Fred McLuckie of Highland Village, Tx and Wendy Sue Troxell of Antioch, Calif.Bob was employed by the Canada Dry Corporation,as Night Warehouseman in Pittsburg, Quality Control Inspector Plant Manager in Detroit, Michigan and Pittsburg Pa. He became the Assistant to Vice President, Manufacturing in New York and finished his career with Canada Dry as the General Operations Manager in Dallas, Tx. He also work for Yoo-Hoo Chocolate Corporation, Dallas Coca-Cola Bottling Co and Double Cola Co. Bob worked for Artha Garza Realty, Inc and the Merrill Lynch/Paula Stringer Inc as a Realter/Broker. Bob is survived by an younger brother, Ellis McLuckie of Monongahela, Pa, His Three children Rob and wife Dianna McLuckie, Fred and wife Cindy McLuckie and Wendy and husband Mark Troxell. 7 Grandchildren Holly Stjernstrom and Magnus of Frisco,Tx; Matt McLuckie and Amanda of McKinney, Tx; Apryl Russell and Steve of Lewisville,Tx; Kelly Ray and Tim of Lewisville,Tx; Fred Clifford McLuckie and Christina of The Colony, Tx; Justin Troxell and Denia of Sacramento, Calif and Clayton Troxell Lamoni, Iowa. 9 Great Grandchildren Hunter, Logan, Emma, Kate, Cooper, Wyatt, Sophie, Sterling, Hannah. He is also survived by a host of niece and nephews and several brother and sister in laws. Bob joined the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints where he served as an Elder, Sunday School Teacher and Pastor in Dallas and Richardson. Tx Bob chose to be cremated and have his ashes joined with his wife's ashes then scattered in Pennsylvania. A memorial service will be held sometime in September.
