Robert Schermerhorn

Schermerhorn, Robert Ryer Age 76, of Minneapolis. Bob, a native son of Texas died as he lived, strong and determined. He passed away peacefully on Wednesday, July 3, 2013, predeceased by parents Robert Franklin Schermerhorn and Louise Schermerhorn Entriken and his brothers John and Scott. His loss creates a huge void for his family and friends. Bob was born in Big Spring, Texas and grew up in Dallas, Texas. He graduated from the Univ. of Arizona (BA) and SMU (MA). Bob served in the USAF, being honorably discharged in 1963. During this time he met his wife Inge and they married in a Lutheran church in Copenhagen, Denmark. Upon his return to Dallas. He worked as an aircraft manufacturing support engineer at LTV. Later, upon graduation from SMU, Bob excelled as a high school teacher at Crozier Tech and Skyline HS. He moved to Minnesota with his family in the early seventies. In the eighties he founded and managed until his retirement a financial services business located both in Minneapolis and in the Arrowhead region of Northeastern Minnesota (a place close to his heart). He loved his work, his family, traveling the world and visiting with family and friends throughout the U.S. He especially enjoyed serving for many years in the capacity of an Election Judge. Bob was a member of Westminster Presbyterian Church, Minneapolis, MN and formerly Zion Lutheran Church, Finland, MN and High-land Park Presbyterian Church, Dallas. He was generous and kind to everyone he met. He will be greatly missed. Survived by his wife, Inge; daughters, Dina (Lee) and Anna (Kenny); sons, Robert (Suzanne) and Ryer (Terri); 11 grandchildren and 3 great grandchil-dren; and sisters Linda (Gilbert) Brown and Susan Flanagan. The funeral service to be Wednesday, July 10 at noon at Lakewood Ceme-tery Chapel. The family requests memorial gifts be designated for the Park Nicollet Methodist Hospital Hospice program, 6500 Excelsior Boulevard, St. Louis Park, MN 55426 or .
