Cloninger, Sidney L. Was born February 18, 1917 in Hedley, Texas. He was the 10th of 12 children born to Amos Burl and Leola Cloninger. He passed away February 5th, 2011, just two weeks shy of his 94th birthday. He spent his working career in the aircraft maintenance field, primarily with Slick Airways in San Antonio and with Braniff Airways in Dallas. He retired from Braniff in 1982 at age 65. Following retirement he spent many years actively involved with the Farmers Branch Senior Center. He was a member of Christ United Methodist Church in Farmers Branch, TX. He is survived by his wife of 69 years, Jennie Sue; sons, Don and wife Ruth of Garland, TX, David of Highland Village, TX.; grandsons, Steve and wife Teresa of Desoto, Brian and wife Marti of Dallas, Matthew and wife Alicia of Sachse; granddaughter, Amy Schomerus and husband Chris of McKinney; great-granddaughters, Ashli, Brittini, Preslea, Hailey, and Avery; great-grandson, Tyler, sister, Iris Melcher of Plainview, TX; and numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation from 5:00-7:00pm on Thursday, February 10, 2011 at Restland Funeral home. Services at 12:30pm on Friday, February 11, 2011 at Restland Memorial Chapel with visitation 1 hour prior. Interment at 1:00pm Saturday, February 12, 2011 at Wells Chapel Cemetery in Linden, TX. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Wells Chapel Cemetery Association, 211 Tobacco Road, Linden, TX 75563.
