Tommy Stimson

Stimson, Tommy Howard Passed away on November 26, 2013 after a brave battle with Parkinson's disease. Tom was born in Topeka, KS on February 5, 1928 to Audrey and Howard Stimson. He was a 1945 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. He served his country in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. Tom became a Christian in his 50's and was a faithful member of Grace Redeemer Community Church in Richardson. He will be remembered for his legacy of unconditional love, generosity and wisdom. Tom worked for his family business, "Stimson Contracting Company", for over 40 years, and served as its President and CEO for 20 years. Tom was appreciated by scores of co-workers as a respected and kind employer. Tom was also an active member of the White Rock Rotary Club for 41 years. His fellow Rotarians knew him as a man of integrity. Tom had a great sense of humor and always enjoyed hearing or telling a good story. He was loyal to the Texas Aggies and enjoyed history (world and family) and in-depth conversations. Tom was a loving family man and a trusted advisor to his family and many friends. Above all, Tom was a devoted and compassionate husband, father, grandfather, brother and friend to all. Tom and his cherished wife, Sandra, celebrated their 25th anniversary in October. Together they shared the blessing of eight loving children: Susie and John Roberts, Johnny and Cindy Stimson, Dave and Carol Stimson, Charlie and Meredith Stimson, Bob and Lisa Stimson, Julie Morrow, Jenny and Michael Harris, and Jill and Mike Wood. Tom and Sandra also enjoyed 16 precious grandchildren and three great grandchildren. Also surviving are his sister and brother, Sally Dorn and Don Stimson, and numerous other relatives. Tom was preceded in death by his treasured wife of 33 years, Marcia, and his beloved grandson, Matt Roberts. Tom's family expresses deep gratitude to Tom and Sandra's pastor and dear family friend, Carl Anderson, who will officiate at his memorial service. This celebration of thanksgiving for Tom's wonderful life will be held on Friday, November 29 at 3:00 p.m. in Restland Memorial Chapel, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, TX, 75243.
