Aho, Wayne Oliver Beloved husband, father, and grandfather died on September 22, 2011 at the age of 94. Wayne was born in Negaunee, Michigan on December 13, 1916 shortly after his parents immigrated from Finland. By first grade he was speaking both English and Finnish. He married Mary Louise Zander in 1943 and they had two children; Margaret and Alan. Wayne and Mary Lou called El Paso their home for 57 of their 68 years of marriage before moving to Dallas in 2008. Mary Lou died suddenly on June 4, 2011. Wayne missed her dearly. Wayne received his BA from the Northern Michigan University in 1939, his master's degree from the University of Texas
at El Paso in 1954, and completed all the course work toward his doctorate from Florida State University by 1970. His lifelong teaching career began as a high school teacher
. After honorably serving as a lieutenant (jg) in the Navy in WWII
he worked as an Educational Specialist at Keesler Air Force Base. The family moved to El Paso in 1951 where he served as a civilian training instructor for the US Army Air Defense School at Fort Bliss, Texas until he retired in 1983. While in El Paso he remained active in his church. He loved his daily three mile walks and reading extensively, especially about computers-his favorite hobby. He is survived by his daughter, Margaret Hamilton; son-in-law Carl Hamilton; two wonderful grand children, Evan Hamilton and Megan Hamilton; and his niece Verna Thompson of Marquette, Michigan. Services will be held at Caruth Haven Court, 5585 Caruth Haven Lane on September 26 at 3 p.m.
