Terry Mackey

Mackey, Terry Lee Terry Lee Mackey passed away March 16, 2011 at age 50. He graduated from UT Austin and then enjoyed a successful career in the waterpark industry, where he insisted his positions provide him a "shorts allowed" dress code and free rein. Terry was general manager at parks across the country, including Whitewater Atlanta, Raging Waters San Dimas, Visionland Birmingham and Island Water Park Fresno and consulted with parks across the globe, including Cleopark in Egypt. Always tan and fit, Terry was a supreme optimist who rarely saw a rainy day, but when he did, declared "the thing of it is, it turned out great it was drizzling because" He reveled in his independence, happy to buy sports cars, travel and do as he pleased. Terry's smart mouth and ability to laugh through even the most sticky situation made him a thoroughly entertaining companion, but his always- available ear and unimpeachable advice made him a true asset as a friend and brother. Taken too soon by colorectal cancer, Terry still enjoyed and inspired enough smiles and laughs to fill a life twice as long. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Billy Joe and Dorothy Mackey, and brother, John Mackey. He is survived by his sister, Paula Mackey Geeteh and her husband, Dave; his nephew and niece, Javion Mackey and Aaliyah White and many aunts, uncles and cousins. Visitation will be Friday, March 18, 2011 from 6 to 8 pm at Restland Memorial Park and funeral services and interment will be Saturday, March 19, 2011 at 10 am, also at Restland.
