William Clinton Maxwell M.D. Obituary
Maxwell, M.D., William Clinton William Clinton Maxwell, M.D., age 78 of Allen, TX, passed away Saturday, May 3, 2014. He was born December 31, 1935, in San Antonio, TX, to Vernon Ezra Maxwell and Jenny (Spence) Maxwell. Dr. Maxwell attended Breckenridge High School in San Antonio, TX, and obtained his Bachelor's Degree at the University of Texas in Austin, TX. He graduated summa cum laude from Heidelberg University School of Medicine in Heidelberg, Germany and completed his residency at UT Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, TX. Early in his career, Dr. Maxwell was a USAF flight surgeon stationed in Montgomery, AL, and later opened his private practice in Plano, TX. He was the founding Medical Director of Plano Rehabilitation Hospital and was a medical missionary in Quito, Ecuador, Cochabamba, Bolivia and Montserrat, British West Indies. During his career, Dr. Maxwell was named Lion of the Year and Texas Physician of the Year and was a pioneer in the education and treatment of Post-Polio Syndrome as well as a published medical author. He was the team physician for the San Antonio Spurs and a member and elder of the Missouri Synod Lutheran Church. The three words that sum up Dr. Maxwell's life are faith, family and healing. Dr. Maxwell is survived by Shirley (Wilson) Maxwell of Plano, TX; children: Jeffrey S. Maxwell and wife Kathryn, Gregory P. Maxwell and wife Mary Ann and Kimberly K. King and husband Billy; grandchildren: Meghan and Maddie Maxwell, Nickolus, Gehrig, Becca and Jordan Maxwell and Ashley Breedlove; and brother: Russell Lee Maxwell. He was preceded in death by his parents and by his brother: Vernon Maxwell, Jr. Graveside services under the direction of Rest Haven Funeral Home-Rockwall Chapel will be held 11:30AM, Wednesday, May 7, 2014 in Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery, 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas, TX, with Rev.
