Humphrey, Alan Morgan Alan Morgan Humphrey left this world on April 20, 2013. He was born in Wichita Falls, Texas, on February 11, 1956, to Dr. Thomas Roger Humphrey and Sarah Ruth (Morgan) Humphrey. He was a graduate of Wichita Falls High School and the University of Texas at Austin. He worked many years for Morgan Express, a trucking company headed by his beloved uncle, W. P. Morgan, Jr. Morgan Express was established in Wichita Falls over 80 years ago by his grandfather, W.P. Morgan, Sr., and his great uncle, Eli Morgan. Graveside services will take place at 3:00 PM, Thursday, April 25, 2013, with Dr. David Hartman officiating. A celebration of his life by family and friends will follow 4:30 to 7:00 PM at Wichita Falls Country Club, 1701 Hamilton Blvd. Arrangements are under the direction of Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home in Wichita Falls. Alan was preceded in death by his parents and two brothers, Eric Street Humphrey and Kent Walter Humphrey. He is survived by his long-time girlfriend, Denna Morgan, and by her children, Alex Carlson and Morgan Carlson. He is also survived by his stepmother, Patsy Humphrey, her son, Scott Humphrey, and Scott's daughter, Kaegin; his brother, Roger Lea Humphrey, M.D., and his wife, Patricia, and their children, Sarah Alisabeth Humphrey, Morgan K.T. Humphrey, and Conner Samuel Harrison Humphrey. Although he was doctors' son and brother he proudly displayed on his wall a framed copy of his acceptance letter from Southwestern Medical School, Dallas. Alan chose the worlds of business and realty. Alan cared deeply for his family, helping them in any way he could. He was also an excellent friend once you developed an immunity to his sense of humor. (The rogue humor gene clearly did not originate on the Morgan side of the family). He cherished his friendships greatly, maintaining ties over the years and miles. An adept card player, he was tough to beat and always gleeful to add the queen of spades to one of your tricks in a game of hearts. He enjoyed reading, movies, travel, caring for his birds, and attending athletic events with Alex, whom he regarded as a son. In lieu of flowers, memorial contribution may be made to Youth World Dallas, 606 Edgefield Ave. Dallas TX 75208 or to the Wichita Falls Humane Society. Visitation will be from 6:00-7:00 PM, Wednesday, April 24, 2013, at Lunn's Colonial Funeral Home. Condolences to the family may be made online at www.lunnscolonial.com
