Jones, Elizabeth Woodward Elizabeth Woodward Jones was born in Austin, Texas, on March 18, 1913. She died at her home in Dallas on April 28, 2012. Mrs. Jones was the daughter of Mary Lee Thomson Woodward and Dudley K. Woodward, Jr. She attended the Austin public schools and Smith College in Northampton, Mass. After two years at Smith, she enrolled at the University of Texas in Austin. While at the University, she was a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Pi Beta Phi. In 1932 her family moved to Dallas. She married Robert H. Jones, Jr. on June 23, 1937. They had two daughters, Elizabeth (Litty) and Mary Lee. Mrs. Jones was a member of St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church, the Dallas Shakespeare Club, the Dallas Country Club, the Junior League of Dallas, the Dallas Woman's Club and the Colonial Dames of America in the State of Texas. During her long life, she was associated with numerous civic, welfare, cultural, social and educational organizations. She was always active in her church. She was preceded in death by her husband of forty-eight years, Robert H. Jones and her granddaughter, Rachel Elizabeth Virden Hulscher. Mrs. Jones is survived by her daughters and their husbands, Elizabeth (Litty) and David O. Turner and Mary Lee and Robert N. Virden, and by five grandchildren and their families: Beth and Louis Ygartua, Elizabeth and Jack; Billye and David O. Turner, Jr., David III, Luke, and Virginia; Catherine and Philip T. Russell, Rebecca, Tucker, and Turner; Melissa and Robert N. Turner, Ashley, Clark, Daniel and Allison; Lee Virden DuBose, Mary Clare and Alice; and Mark E. Hulscher of Seattle, Washington. She is also survived by many beloved relatives and friends. The family wishes to express its heartfelt appreciation to her devoted caregivers, Charlotte Yoakum, O'Linda Elliott, and Arlene Lewis. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Jones will be held at St. Michael and All Angels Episcopal Church at 11 a.m. on Monday, May 14. Interment will take place at a later date in Polk Cemetery in Bolivar, Tennessee.
