BIRD, EMILY L. 78, passed away on July 6, 2005, in her Irving home. Mrs. Bird was a resident of Irving since 1950 and had retired from Wausau Insurance Company. Emily was born on September 16, 1926, in Metz, Missouri. She was a longtime volunteer with the Boy Scouts of America where she was awarded the Silver Fawn Award in 1972, Outstanding Commisioner 1997, and District Award Merit 1997. She was awarded the High Spirit Award in 1990 from the City of Irving and had been chaparone for the Mini-Squares, a chidren's square dance club in Irving for many years. She was a longtime member of Kirkwood United Methodist Church. The family will receive friends for visitation on Sunday afternoon from 3:00pm to 5:00pm. Funeral services will be Monday, July 11, 2005 at 11:00 am at Calvery Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Oak Grove Memorial Gardens. Mrs. Bird is survived by her husband, Bob Bird, three sons Jerry and Terry Bird of Charleston, SC and Rick Bird of Witchita Falls, TX. Four grand-children, Angie and Bob Bird of Florida, Melinda Hopp of McChord AFB, Washington, Michelle Bird of Austin, TX. Two Great-Grandchildren, JC and Jade Hopp. Sisters, Linda Byrnes of Neveda, MO and Jeannie Zinn of Hume, MO and Three brothers, Leroy Wilson of Plano TX, H.
