Gayle Oberstein Obituary

OBERSTEIN, GAYLE SIEGEL "How can I help?" was a regularly asked question from Gayle Siegel Oberstein, born January 5, 1947 in Dallas. Having garnered degrees in education from UNT and SMU, Gayle began her working life as a teacher with DISD. Shortly thereafter, her expansive optimistic, personality led her to a career in real estate where she became an established entity in the Dallas marketplace for the past 25 years with Ebby Halliday Realtors. Her success was driven by a repeat and referral client base. Gayle was a lovingly devoted and nuturing mother to her son, Jack Oberstein, currently a senior at Hillcrest High School of which Gayle was also a graduate. She was ever proud of his every accomplishment throughout her short 18 years with him. Gayle truly epitomized the ideal of the "working mother". She was the most beloved and treasured daughter of Zelda Sikora Siegel, and the late Jack H. Siegel. Her two brothers, Larry Siegel and Mark Siegel had a devoted and loving sister, whom, in turn, became an involved sister-in-law to Karen Siegel and Linda Siegel. Gayle was a dedicated aunt to Samantha,Jacqueline, Jenna, Jason and Jordan Anna. Dr. David Sikora, Hilda Heffler, and Miriam Grossman were so proud of their affectionate niece. Any and all who were fortunate of her love and friendship would accord Gayle Siegel Oberstein "special privilege" because she could always be given highest honors for her passionate and positive attitude to life, her inherent style, and her courage which was evident until August 22, 2003 when she lost her valiant, six year, battle with cancer. Services for Gayle will be conducted at Temple Emanu-El, 8500 Hillcrest Rd., 2:00P.M. Monday, August 25, 2003. In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to the Susan G. Komen Foundation.
