Sibley, Dr. George W. Dr. George Warren Sibley, 90, of Dallas, Texas, joyfully entered into the presence of his Lord and Savior on Saturday, January, 12, 2013. A celebration of his life will be held on Wednesday, January 23, at 10:00 a.m., in the Sanctuary of First Baptist Church of Dallas. The family will receive guests immediately following the service. George was born on August 8, 1922, in Baton Rouge, Louisiana to George and Mona Mae Sibley. George's life began impacting others when at the age of six, he received Jesus Christ as his Savior. He has left a legacy of a life lived serving his Lord that will influence generations to come. His commitment to trusting Christ's leading was seen in his military service in World War II where he was awarded the Purple Heart and the Bronze Star, among other awards. He was actively involved at First Baptist Church as a Deacon, Sunday School teacher, and Chapel Choir sponsor. George was committed to encouraging a love for the Lord in his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren. He was among the first Orthopedic surgeons in Dallas, and became the extension of God's healing hands in the lives of his patients. He met Mary Elizabeth "Bette" Quesenberry, who was to be the love of his life, and married her on May 17, 1945. George is survived by his five children: Gary Sibley, Jim Sibley, Keith Sibley, Ken Sibley, and Becki Sibley Carmichael; their spouses; fourteen grandchildren; eleven great grandchildren; nieces; nephews; a host of friends; and a recent wife, Linda Copeland Sibley. Listed here are two options for those who wish to make a contribution in honor of Dr. George Sibley: 1) The George and Bette Sibley Scholarship fund for Jewish Studies at Criswell College; 2) Pasche Institute at Criswell College. Both may be sent directly to the college at 4010 Gaston Avenue, Dallas, Texas.
