Byars, Hoyt Cope Hoyt Cope Byars passed away surrounded by loving family on Friday April 5, 2013. Hoyt lived a full life without compromise making a strong impression on thousands of friends made over the 89+ years of his life. Born in 1923, the son of Paul and Pearl Byars of Wylie, Texas, Hoyt graduated from Wylie High and then flew in the 8th Air Force fighting the war in Europe. Hoyt fought courageously with 25+ missions during WWII and was a highly decorated hero. Hoyt married Margie Malone with only his passing now separating them after almost 70 years. Hoyt is survived by his wife Margie, daughter Annette her husband Bill Creamean, son Steve and his wife Kris, along with 2 grandchildren Susan and KC, 6 great grandchildren Jennifer, Taylor, Caitlin, Rusty, Chaz, and Colton, plus 2 great, great grandchildren Micah and Devin. A member of the 1st Baptist Church in Garland, Hoyt was active locally and served as post Commander for the Garland VFW, while working in the X-Ray business and later in the U.S. Postal Service. Hoyt will be missed, but his legacy will continue. Memorial information available from Restland.
