BARNES, IVELLA KIGHT Ivella Barnes, "Grandmother Red", was born in Braxton, Georgia on September 27, 1908, and passed away peacefully on June 11, 2003. She was preceded in death by her mother and father, Elizabeth and Robert Kight, her brothers, Robert L. and M.L., her loving husband, Roy Barnes and her only child, Rudulph Mills, Jr. She is survived by her sister, Vida Lou Cooper, her grandchildren, Lisa Koons, Leslie Ficke, Jim Mills, and Michael Mills, their spouses, Tom Koons, Brian Ficke, Julie Mills, and Melanie Mills, numerous nieces and nephews, 12 loving great-grandchildren and a host of friends, all of whom loved her dearly. Grandmother Red spent the last three years in Dallas with her grandchildren and their families. She filled a great void in their lives and will be missed by them all. Services will be held on Friday, June 13th at 10:30 a.m., at Cox Chapel at Highland Park United Methodist Church with Reverend Bill Smith officiating. Funeral Services will be at 11:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 17th at the Miles Odum Funeral Home Chapel in Waycross, Georgia. 912.283.2525. Private interment services in Waycross, Georgia.
