James Moore Obituary

, MOORE, JAMES WALTON (JIM) Born 1919 in Hartwell, Georgia, son of Southern Baptist Missionaries, grew up in Chefoo, China, and attended the China Inland Mission School in Chefoo from 1926 to 1936. Jim graduated from Hardin-Simmons University in Abilene, Texas and attended George Washington Law School in Washington D.C. Jim retired in 1978 after 38 years of Government service. He served with the F.B.I., the Navy, the O.S.S., the State Department and the C.I.A. He was stationed abroad in Tsingtao, China, and Calcutta, India; and in the United States in Washington, D.C., Springfield, Illinois, San Francisco, Calif., Houston, and Dallas. He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Patricia, his son Michael Moore and wife Leslie of Tulsa, Oklahoma, daughter Niki Snidow and husband Frank of Allen, Texas, and daughter Dallas Swan Crowder and husband John of Plano; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren, sisters Martha McClain of Fayetteville, Arkansas, and Miriam Wofford of Ft. Worth, and many loved nieces and nephews. The high point of his Military career took place on August 17, 1945, when as a member of a seven man paratroop team, he jumped into the Japanese Internment Camp in Weihsien, China, where many of his former professors of the C.I.M. School in China were interned and help liberate the 1,500 prisoners. As a youth Jim played many sports and when he was older derived much pleasure from handball and tennis. Jim was an active member of many retirement associations, including the Ex-F.B.I., the 101-O.S.S., the C.I.A. and CBI and Dallas BASHA. He was a member of the Southwest Handball Hall of Fame. Memorial services will be held at Restland Memorial Chapel, Restland Funeral Home, on Thursday, June 22, at 1:00 P.M., Rev. Ed Middleton presiding.
