John Joseph Ahearn passed away in his sleep at home in Plano, Texas on Sunday, September 19, 2010. He was born in September 9, 1926, in New York City, New York to John and Catherine Ahearn. An alumnus of Fordham University and its Law School, he served as a First Lieutenant in the Army in the Judge Advocate General's Office during the Korean conflict. Mr. Ahearn, a member of the New York State Bar, served over 25 years as a procurement attorney with the Department of Defense. He also enjoyed teaching as an adjunct professor at the University of Dallas. He shared over 39 years with his loving wife Kathleen Theresa O'Connor and together they raised four sons and one daughter. He is survived by his children Kevin Ahearn of Plano, Texas, Brian Ahearn of Amarillo, Texas, Christopher Ahearn of Allen, Texas, Erin Ahearn of Plano, Texas and his four granddaughters - Megan, Kristen, Kathleen and Lauren. Mr. Ahearn is preceded in death by his wife Kathleen, his son, John Joseph Ahearn Jr., his parents and two sisters, Peggy Slagg and Kathleen Ahearn. He loved life and his family. Visitation will be held from 7:00 to 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Sparkman Hillcrest Funeral Home in Dallas, Texas with the funeral Mass the following morning at 10:00 a.m. at Christ the King Catholic Church and Christian burial at Sparkman Hillcrest. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to the charity of your choice.
