Mastrogiovanni Sr., Joseph James Age 79, of Farmers Branch, Texas passed away in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, Sept. 15, 2013 after long illness. He preceded in death by his parents Thomas and Antonette Mastrogiovanni and an infant son. He is survived by his wife, Naomi, and his three children Kathryn, Joe [Katie] and Tom [Dena] and his grandchildren Maggie, Jordan, Christian, Matthew and Carson and by his sisters Mary DeSilva and Francine Matera and their children. From 1984 until 1997 he taught Biology and coached three sports at W.T. High School where he was affectionately known as Coach Joe. From 1952-1956 he enjoyed a nationally recognized football career at the University of Wyoming with honors of All American mention in 1955 from AP and UPI named the Nations' second leading rusher in that year. In 1998 Joe was inducted into the University of Wyoming Athletic Hall of Fame. He earned his Master of Science in Education from the University of Oklahoma in 1966. Kindness, loyalty, respect and love are his legacies. A funeral mass will be celebrated Friday, September 27 at 11:00 am at St. Rita Catholic Community.
