Kenneth Kepler Obituary

Kepler, Dr. Kenneth Eugene Passed away on Thursday December 29th at the age of 80 after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on December 15, 1931 in Nanticoke, Pennsylvania, Dr. Kepler adopted Texas as his home state in 1964 and settled in Richardson, Texas where he began his Podiatry practice of 40 years. After graduating from high school in Coudersport, Pennsylvania, he served honorably in the 82nd Airborne Division during the Korean War. After his service he began his undergraduate studies at Cleveland State University, and then attended The Ohio College of Podiatry where he graduated with honors. He then set his sights on the great state of Texas where he practiced for over four decades. He became a renowned foot surgeon and a pioneer in the area of sports medicine. He exemplified excellence in medicine as he was sought out by and treated some of society's most privileged, but always treated those who could not afford his services gratis. Known for his kindness, generosity and devotion to his family, friends, colleagues, and patients, he was loved and admired by all and will be missed dearly. Preceded in death by his mother, Celia Mann; his father, Charles H. Kepler; niece, Michelle A. Kepler; and his beloved dog, Bear, he is survived by his wife, Chrysanthia G. Kepler; his sons, Gust C. Kepler and William R. Kepler; brother, Fred L. Kepler and his wife Lenore; sister, Joanne F. Davis and her husband Donald; and his nephews, Fred L. Kepler Jr. and David French and his wife Georgia. A Memorial Service will be held for Dr. Kepler on Wednesday, January 4, 2012 at 3:30 PM at Restland Wildwood Chapel in Dallas. Tributes in his memory may be made to the American Cancer Society or other charities

I worked some with Dr Kepler, when I first came to Dallas. We did a few difficult cases together. He was a kind, caring physician who helped many people. Part of the greatest generation who would never mention he was in the 82 airborne, and you would never know it by his soft spoken nature. It's a terrible loss and my sincere sympathies to his family. He passed within hours of my own father death who was the same age.
