Lucille Barton Obituary
Barton, Lucille Mary Lucille Mary Barton went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, September 29, 2011 in Arlington, TX at the age of 90. She was born in San Antonio, TX on Feb. 8, 1921 to Charles & Ella Rossy. She graduated from high school in Corpus Christi, and attended Texas Lutheran College in Sequin in 1939. She received her college degree from John Sealy College of Nursing of the University of Texas in 1942. After a short courtship of 2 weeks, she married Mauris Barton on April 24, 1943. They enjoyed 61 years of marriage. Lucille was a long-time resident of Grand Prairie where she was active in the United Methodists Women's group at First Methodist Church in Grand Prairie, the Grand Prairie Garden Club, Soroptimist, and Eastern Star. Her career as a nurse took her to work at Methodist Hospital in Dallas and Arlington Memorial Hospital where she was head nurse of the Neo-Natal department. Later she worked with her husband at a family owned business, the M. U. Barton Company. She was preceded in death by her husband, Mauris Barton. Survivors: 3 daughters: Marcile Vaclavik and husband, John of Eagle, Idaho, Cherie Giddens and husband, John, of Hurst, TX , Bonna Pernell and husband, Eddie, of Arlington, TX, grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren, nieces, and nephews and their families. Memorial Service: Sunday, October 2, at First United Methodist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.
