Entwistle, Mary Jo McCollom Passed into the hands of her Lord on February 20, 2013 in Cypress, Texas. Mary Jo was born on February 6, 1924 in Tahoka, Texas. Being a "preacher's kid" she lived in various towns in North Texas. She was Sweetheart of the Band and graduated from Gainesville High School. She attended Gainesville Junior College and Southern Methodist University where she earned a degree in Business. She was an active member of Alpha Delta Phi. While living in Gainesville, she met Sherwood Entwistle on the steps of her church. They married on March 19, 1943. They moved to Dallas, Texas and had 3 daughters. She was very active in Cochran Chapel Methodist Church, and became director of Walnut Hill Methodist Preschool. In 1969 they moved to Houston. She continued her love of working in education. She held various positions at Bellaire Methodist Church Preschool, Houston Baptist University, Sharpstown Middle School, Pat Neff Elementary, and Walnut Bend Elementary. Mary Jo loved and was loved by her family and friends. She will be missed by all. She was preceded in death by parents Dr. Gerald and Mary McCollom, loving husband Sherwood Entwistle, brother James McCollom, sister Ruby Haley, niece Teresa Haley, and nephew Blake Haley. She is survived by her three daughters and sons-in-law Joan and Robert Garrett, Nancy and Ken Kabonic, Jill and Dan Carlson; nine grandchildren Jeff Lawson, Chad Lawson, Rob Garrett, Ryan Garrett, Rachael Glazer, Andrew Banks, Matthew Banks, Zachary Carlson, Alexandra Carlson; six great grand-children; one great-great grand-daughter; two nieces and one nephew. A graveside service will be held at Sparkman Hillcrest in Dallas, Texas on Sunday, February 24, 2013 at 2:00pm. Memorials may be made to her favorite charity, the Methodist Children's Home 1111 Herring Ave. Waco, Texas 76708 and Houston Hospice 1905 Holcombe Blvd. Houston, Texas 77030.
