Go Custer's Kids!!!

Many great years of select soccer in KC. Sad to hear of his passing.

I am saddened to hear of Mike's passing. I had not seen him in almost 30 years, but I remember him from the days he spent at Fairway Pool. I remember that he always had a soccer ball with him, and that he always had a great tan. I remember later when he roomed with a couple of guys from the KC Comets soccer team, one of whom I was dating at the time. Steve Gaughan from Fairway Pool nicknamed him "Crusty", for some reason, and that's what most of the kids called him, as I remember. I'll remember you all in my prayers.

We (the Nelson family) are profoundly sorry today to learn of Mike's death. He had a huge impact on our formative years (Pete, Reid, Ted). All those years ago Pete and I were on the first team he coached, "Mission State Bank." From that point on, we spent countless hours, which spaned decades, playing and enjoying the sport, and it continues even to this day. The friends we made, and the passion that the sport brought saw us through both good and tough times. What a great gift to us.
