1939 - 2013 Obituary Condolences
Terk, Penny Lynn Penny Lynn Terk, 73, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on Friday June 28, 2013 at her home. Penny was born on December 18, 1939, in Chapel Hill, Texas to Henry Lee and Edwina Inez (Yawn) Wagstaff. As a child, she was adored by her parents and big brother Jerry. She was the first woman in her family to go to college and attended Howard Payne College. She worked hard to pay her way through college, ultimately earning her teaching certificate. She began her career as a teacher in San Antonio and ultimately moved to Odessa, TX where she met Roger Terk, a local veterinarian whom she married in 1966. Her son Jason was born in 1967 and her daughter Eve was born in 1969. Penny poured her soul into raising her children and spared nothing in her efforts to do so. In 1974, the Terk family moved to Kilgore, TX, where Penny immersed herself in many projects and always the entrepreneur, opened a number of successful small businesses. In 1990, Penny followed her daughter to Dallas where she ultimately found her calling as a highly successful book reviewer. With her new passion for book reviewing, she felt the need for a centralized resource for reviewers and clubs, so she created PennyTerk.com which brought together local and nonlocal authors, reviewers, &speakers with clubs and organizations. Her Summertime Showcase was well-known locally as the event for organizations and clubs to see and hear authors, speakers, and entertainers to fill their calendars in the coming year. Penny loved spending time with her kids and grandkids and adored her precious pets. She had a passion for travel and a love for other cultures. Penny is survived by her two children, Jason V. Terk, M.D., of Keller, TX; Eve Lynn Victoria Holder, of Dallas, TX; her precious grandchildren Victoria and Taylor Holder, Joshua and Colin Terk; her brother Jerry Wagstaff, of El Paso, TX as well as many loving cousins, nephews, and devoted friends. A memorial service will be held on Saturday, July 6, 2013, at 9:30 AM at St. Thomas Aquinas Catholic Church at 6406 Kenwood Ave. in Dallas, Texas.
