Gadd, Roger Bruce Roger Bruce Gadd was born on June 17, 1925 in Zanesville, Ohio. He died on Valentine's Day 2012 at his home surrounded by family. At age 19, he enlisted with the Merchant Marines during WWII. On September 11, 1948, he married the love of his life, Marilyn Ruth Butler. He started his business career with City Loan and Savings in Ohio. They merged with Commercial Credit Corporation, and this job brought the family to Richardson, Texas, in 1964. He continued with them as an area director over 5 states. In 1966, he joined Dallas Federal Savings and Loan as a vice president. He went on to become Sr. Executive Vice President with them, and he also served as Chairman of the Board and CEO of Dallas Federal Service Corporation. Shortly after his time with DFS&L, he joined Sullivan Development Company until he retired. During his business career, he attended the Advanced Management Program for the Institute of Financial Education with the University of Southern California. He also attended the School of Savings and Loan with the University of Indiana. Roger was involved with many philanthropic and charitable organi-zations. He was co-founder and first board chairman of Consumer Credit Counseling Service of Greater Dallas, Inc. He was on the advisory board of the SMU Costa Institute and served on the City of Dallas Public Housing Task Force. He was Vice Chairman of Service Corp Committee of U.S. League of Savings and the director of Family Outreach of Greater Dallas, Inc. He also served on the boards of Dallas Home and Apartment Builders, Greater Dallas Board of Realtors, and the Richardson YMCA. He was a co-founder of the Waterview Beauti-fication Project in Richardson. While living in Addison, Roger served as Chairman of the Planning and Zoning Board and was the Chairman of the Comprehensive Plan Adoption of Addison in 1991. Roger was a 32nd degree Mason with Dallas Scottish Rite and volunteered at the Dallas Scottish Rite Hospital into his eighties. He and Marilyn delivered food for Meals on Wheels until Marilyn's death in 2007. Roger had so many wonderful friends from his years in Ohio, Richardson and Addison, whose relationships transcended gener-ations. Roger and Marilyn loved to spend their winters in Ft. Myers Beach, Florida, and the summer and fall in the mountains of Sapello, New Mexico. They established many lifelong friends at the beach as well as the mountains. He derived his greatest joy from his family. He was preceded in death by his wife, Marilyn, and his daughter-in-law, Linda Foster Gadd. He is survived by his children Karen Stewart (Mike) of Plano, Bruce Gadd of Dallas, Lynn Krenek (Alan) of Midland, and Laurie Barnes (Will) of Denver, Colorado. Grandchildren John Stewart (Lauren), Sam Gadd, Joe Brooks Gadd, Rachel Krenek Brigman (Andy) and Zack Krenek. Five great grandchildren Sophie and Sydney Stewart and Charlotte, Belle and Hunter Brigman. He is also survived by his sister June Kinder and husband George of Columbus, Ohio and numerous nieces and nephews. The family would like to give our love and appreciation to Roger's caregivers Sheila Booker, Fkadu Mana and Jacqueline Elwess with Visiting Angels of Dallas. Their caring compassion allowed him to be at home for the last few years of his life. We would also like to thank the fabulous people with Faith Presbyterian Hospice who gave him the gift of being home for his final journey. A special thanks also goes to Dr. Martha Grimm and the staff at Plano Presbyterian Hospital. We will honor and celebrate Roger's life with a memorial service at First United Methodist Church of Richardson on March 5, 2012, at 3:00 P.M.
