DIONNE, MATTHEW PIERCE, 20, was taken from us in Tennessee while driving his 1978 Volvo 242GT, on his first solo road trip. Matthew was junior enrolled at The University of Texas at Dallas in the Electrical Engineering program. He was a staff writer for The UTD Mercury newspaper. He was a beloved son, grandson, brother and friend. Matthew was born March 23, 1983 in Utica NY. He is survived by his beloved parents, Bob and Carol Dionne and his younger brother Timothy of Plano TX, his paternal grand parents John and Agnes Dionne of Binghamton NY, his paternal aunts and uncles Stephen and Sue Dionne of Slingerlands NY, Greg and Suzie Dionne of Cary Ill, Andrea and Rick Knox of Punta Gorda FL, Peter and Shelley Dionne of Binghamton NY, and maternal aunts and uncles Marie and Stephen Crumb of Seabeck WA, and Susan and Douglas Rahn of Norwich CT, and cousins Jeff and Sarah Crumb, Andy and Brandy Crumb, Sara Crumb, Joanne and Brian Wells, Cindy and George Obada, Peter Rahn, Jim and Joyce Meyrick, Diane, Keith and Shannon Kelly, David, Christie, Adam, and Austin Meyrick, Amanda, Alyse and Luke Dionne, Bethany Stimely, Natalie and Harlan Keppel. He is also survived by friends, neighbors, classmates and professors. Matthew never met a person he did not like. He was a gifted and blessed child, loved by all who met him. He will always be remembered for his passion for life, literature, writing and automobiles. In spite of his hearing impairments, he overcame many obstacles to become a gifted student, public speaker and musician even playing at Carnegie Hall while in high school. Matthew had the largest capacity for loving, and touched many lives during his short stay with us. He loved to lecture on deafness and the communications difficulties of the deaf to speech and language pathology students on college campuses. Matthew attended Prairie Creek Elementary School in Richardson TX and Split Rock Elementary School in Syracuse, NY. Matthew next attended Richardson North Junior High School, and then JJ Pearce High School, graduating in 2001. A memorial service will be held at the Christ United Methodist Church in Plano TX at 7:00 P.M. on Thursday May 15. Funeral Services will be held on Saturday May 17 at Allen Funeral Home in Endicott, NY with a calling hour from 1:30-2:30, service at 2:30 and internment at the Vestal Hills Memorial Park; Vestal, NY. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Matthew Pierce Dionne Memorial Scholarship Fund in care of Christ United Methodist Church; 3101 Coit Road; Plano, Texas 75075.
