Corcoran, Betty Elizabeth M Corcoran (Betty) 1/19/1926 - 11/7/2011 Betty Corcoran went to be with her Father on Monday, November 7th, 2011 from her home in Dallas, TX where she had many wonderful friends who loved her as much as she loved them. She was born on January 19, 1926, in Philadelphia, PA, to Ernesto Castagna and wife Mary T DiMarzio Castagna. She attended college at Beacon Business School in Wilmington, DE. She met her husband, Philip H Corcoran of West Chester, PA while attending Saint Agnes High School. They married in October of 1947 and spent 46 wonderful years together. Betty's first employment was as a teller at First National Bank in West Chester, PA, then to Southeast Bank until she, her husband and family relocated to Dallas in 1963. Her career in Dallas began with Mercantile National Bank downtown as a secretary and growing her career to one of the few women Vice Presidents in Dallas at the time. Betty commuted from East Dallas to downtown every day on the same bus for 27 years. She retired from Bank One, now Chase Bank, in 1996. Her personal and business relationships with her many customers included Dallas' finest retailers and business families. She was a devoted Mother and Grandmother of four children and four grandchildren. She was an active member of the Dallas Elks #71 Ladies Auxiliary, line dancing and supporting volunteer activities. She was also active with the Dallas Knights of Columbus Council 799 where her husband, Phil, was a 4th Degree Knight holding many leadership positions. You could catch Betty on any given Saturday browsing and shopping for bargains and gifts and on Sunday at Saint Patricks parish in Dallas. Betty was preceded in death by her husband, Phil, May 31, 1994 and sister, Mary R Castagna, October 17, 2011 and is survived by her four children, son Philip (Flip) Corcoran and wife, Nancy, son Cary (Chip) Corcoran, daughter Dr. Colleen (Candy) Corcoran and husband Joe Friedman and son Dennis (Skip) Corcoran and wife Gloria; four grandchildren, Kelly Corcoran and wife Stacey, Casey Corcoran, Joseph Friedman and Rebecca Friedman and husband, Joshua Brickley. She is also survived by sisters-in-law Kriki Corcoran and Margaret Corcoran of West Chester, PA. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to:
, KERA Channel 13 and Saint Patricks Parish of Dallas. The family will receive friends from 6:30-8:30 pm Tuesday, November 8th at Sparkman-Craine Funeral Home. Memorial Service to be held at Sparkman-Crane, Wednesday, November 9 at 1:00 pm. Betty will be buried next to her loving husband at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, TX.
