Maxine Bridges Obituary
Bridges, Maxine Lifelong native of Dallas, Texas was born on June 20, 1922 and passed away on February 11, 2014. Maxine was a caring and loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She devoted her life to building the character of young women and helping others. Maxine was a lifelong and active member of the Church of Christ in which she dedicated many hours providing social services to those in need. She was involved in the International Order of the Rainbow for Girls for over 20 years, serving on the Assembly Advisory Board, as Mother Advisor and as an Adult Grand Officer. Maxine was a recipient of Rainbow for Girls' Grand Cross of Color, the highest award given to a member for outstanding service. She was a Worthy Matron in the Order of the Eastern Star and a Brownie Troop leader for several years. She is preceded in death by her parents, two brothers, and two sisters. Maxine is survived by her husband of 71 years, Cletus G. Bridges; two daughters, Janet L. Bridges and Cheryl B. Rubin, and husband, Harvey; four grandchildren, and one "adopted" grandchild; ten great grandchildren; and two nieces. She will be greatly missed by all those whose lives she touched. As an example of virtuous living, there was no equal. Service will be at 12:00 PM on Monday, February 17, 2014 at Restland Wildwood Chapel. Burial will follow at Restland Memorial Park. Visitation will be one hour prior to the service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations are made to the Texas Pot of Gold Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the education and welfare of members of the International Order of Rainbow for Girls, P.O.
