Roy Cherry Jr. Obituary
Cherry Jr., Roy Earl 88, died Monday, February 17, 2014 in Fort Worth. Roy was born September 4, 1925 to Earl and Clotilde Cherry of Dallas. He graduated from Adamson High School in 1943, where he participated in ROTC, football, and was president of his senior class. He turned down an appointment to West Point, instead enlisting in the Marine Corps after graduation. He served in the 1st Marine Infantry Division approximately 1944-1948. Roy married Mertie Lou "Cherry" Cherry on July 16, 1948. He worked for General Dynamics and later, Lockheed-Martin Corp. in Fort Worth for 45 years. His work included contract negotiations for sales of the F-111 and F-16 military aircraft to the governments of Greece and Japan. Roy was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 64 years, "Cherry,"; his parents, Earl and Clotilde; and his brother, Tom. He is survived by his daughter, Priscilla Marsilio, her husband, Joe, and grandson, Joe Marsilio, Jr. of San Antonio; granddaughter, Elaine Krift and her husband, Bro, and great-grandson, Broderick, of Corpus Christi; and by his sister, Camilla Michael and her husband, Lois Raymond, of Bedford; and several generations of nieces and nephews in the Dallas-Fort Worth area. Viewing: 1:00 p.m., February 22, 2014, Restland Memorial Park, 13005 Greenville Ave., Dallas, with Graveside Service at 2:30 p.m.
